The heartwarming joy of getting reconnected and reacquainted.
This encounter was long overdue! The younger version of myself showed up smiling with joy and looking like she had no care in the world. She is short, quiet, dressed cute with her hair put together nicely. Me on the other hand, whew! I showed up anxious, decently dressed and full of nerves. We both did not know what to expect but knew that it was time to start getting reacquainted with each other since we keep bumping into one another randomly. It was kind of hard to read her due to her demeanor which included lightly squeezing her hands but brightly smiling. She asked me how old am I now, and I told her 36 while she reminded me that she was 13. I told her that I remember those years. My memory took me back to when I was in middle school and roaming the halls with friends while sneakily passing notes from my hand into theirs. I even remember calling myself having a boyfriend 😁. We both smiled and even giggled a bit! She said, so how is your dating life now? I told her that I am married and have been for five years. I even have two boys! She gasped and with a grin she said , I would’ve sworn that it would work out where you have a boy and a girl with pretty green eyes like planned. I explained to her that obviously it doesn’t just work like that and maybe one day I could still have that little girl but first I want to help nurture, guide, and protect you . Show you some much needed love and exemplify what grace mixed with correct attention looks like. She looked a bit confused and her demeanor changed to depict being worried that her internal scars and insecurities may have been detected. I told her that due to having to pick up one of my boys, we will have to arrange for another meet up but maybe next time over lunch or dinner. We agreed and parted ways with a slight embrace until our next encounter really soon 😘.Pieces of me…
